Benefits of Professional Learjet 60 Management
- Predictable, Lower Operating Cost: The Learjet 60 already carries some of the lowest direct hourly costs in the midsize class – the advantage is in protecting that. Independent ownership means absorbing every fuel stop, engine reserve, and unscheduled event at whatever the market charges that day. Under management, those variables move onto negotiated pricing and a planned annual budget, so your cost per hour stays both lower and – more useful for planning – predictable.
- Protected Residual Value: With Learjet production ended and the Learjet 60 remaining one of the most sought-after legacy Learjet models, resale increasingly turns on the quality of each aircraft’s records within a finite, well-understood fleet. Because your aircraft is maintained to the manufacturer’s program with complete, continuously documented logbooks, it reaches the market with the clean paper trail buyers pay a premium for. That value is built over years of disciplined oversight, long before a sale is contemplated, not assembled in the weeks before listing.
- Maximum Availability, Minimal Downtime: The Learjet 60’s appeal is its performance – a genuine high-altitude climber ready to dispatch on demand – and the point of ownership is having that on your timeline. Proactive inspection planning, engine and recurring-AD tracking, and the model’s mandated tire-pressure checks are managed ahead of the curve, which is what keeps a maturing airframe dependable and keeps a compliance item from becoming an AOG surprise. The benefit you feel is simple: the aircraft is available when you want it.
- Reduced Ownership Risk & Liability: With safety oversight and Part 91 and Part 135 obligations held by an accountable, independently audited operator, that responsibility shifts off you. You keep the asset and its use; the operational and regulatory exposure sits with professionals whose standards are verified by recurring third-party audits.

Learjet 60 Overview
The Learjet became one of the most recognizable symbols of private aviation during the 1970s. Its cultural status was cemented when Carly Simon referenced a Learjet – flying to Nova Scotia to witness a total eclipse – in her 1972 hit “You’re So Vain.” Whether or not that song was ever about you, the Learjet has remained synonymous with executive travel, speed, and prestige ever since. The Learjet 60 continues that legacy, combining the brand’s heritage with proven performance, operational efficiency, and dependable economics.
The Learjet 60 is a midsize, medium-range business jet built by Bombardier Aerospace in Wichita, Kansas. It earned its FAA type certificate in January 1993 as a stretched, re-engined evolution of the Learjet 55, and it went on to become one of the most recognized midsize jets of its era. Production of the Model 60 ran through 2007; the upgraded 60XR followed, with manufacturing winding down by 2013. Bombardier announced the end of Learjet production in 2021 and delivered the final aircraft in March 2022. The Lear 60 is, in effect, the last of the legacy Learjets – and a large fleet of them is still flying.
What makes it a strong aircraft to own is the same thing that makes it worth managing well. Two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW305A turbofans, rated at roughly 4,600 pounds of thrust each, give the Lear 60 a genuine high-altitude climber’s profile: it reaches FL410 in around 18 minutes at max takeoff weight and cruises up near Mach 0.81.
When operated within its optimal mission profile, the Learjet 60 delivers approximately 2,400 nautical miles of range with four passengers and NBAA reserves, comfortably connecting major business centers such as New York and Miami, Toronto and Dallas, while enabling efficient same-day round trips across much of North America.
The cabin, offering about 5 feet 8 inches of stand-up height and seating for six to seven passengers, was the most spacious in the Learjet lineup at the time of its introduction, providing an exceptional balance of comfort, productivity, and performance.

Why Aircraft Management Matters

Handling these responsibilities without professional support can be time-consuming and costly. Capital Jets delivers turnkey management that eliminates the operational burden.
