Aircraft Management
Aircraft management is the outsourcing of an aircraft's crew, maintenance, scheduling, compliance, charter operations, and financial reporting to a certificated operator. Capital Jets handles all of these through one operating team based in South Florida and South Carolina, so owners have a single point of responsibility for the day-to-day operation of their aircraft.
We manage light, midsize, and super midsize jets, from the Citation CJ series and Phenom 300 to the Hawker 800 family, Challenger 300, Praetor 600, and Gulfstream G280. The Learjet 60 and 60XR are our core fleet.
Owners retain priority for their own travel. As an ARGUS Platinum Operator with a Part 135 certificate, we also place qualifying aircraft into charter service and guarantee a defined number of charter hours in writing.
Why use aircraft management
Three reasons, in practice. Regulatory responsibility moves to us: we’re accountable to the FAA for airworthiness, crew qualifications, and operational compliance, not you. Your aircraft gets fleet economics: fuel at our negotiated pricing, insurance placed across a managed fleet, and parts sourced by a team that does it every day. Charter revenue offsets fixed costs that accumulate whether the aircraft flies or not, such as crew salaries, insurance, and calendar inspections.
What we manage
-
Flight crew
We recruit, screen, train, and schedule pilots for your aircraft in accordance with our operational and safety standards. They are our employees, so their payroll, training records, and administration are ours to handle.
-
Maintenance
Our maintenance team plans inspections, tracks airworthiness directives and component times, and keeps the aircraft's records complete. We know the Learjet 60 inspection program in particular detail. Our parts sourcing team works to find required components quickly, which reduces maintenance-related downtime.
-
Scheduling and dispatch
We coordinate flight planning, permits, slots, weather, and real-time operational support for owner flights and charter flights alike. Our operations team is available around the clock, so schedule changes and operational questions are handled when they come up.
-
Safety and compliance
Owner flights operate under Part 91, while charter flights operate under Part 135. We manage both within one safety management system. We are an ARGUS Platinum Operator, and the rating is maintained through recurring independent audits. We are also a WYVERN Registered operator and a member of the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA). Read more about our approach to safety.
-
Insurance, accounting, and reporting
We coordinate insurance based on how the aircraft is actually used and provide monthly reporting covering flights, expenses, invoices, and charter revenue.
-
Charter
We are an approved vendor for charter brokerages, jet card providers, and fractional programs, giving qualifying aircraft access to their charter flights.
When you fly
Tell us where you need to be and when. Our operations team plans the trip from there, including multi-stop itineraries, catering, ground transportation, and any preferences you've given us. Because the same team manages the aircraft, they already know its schedule and maintenance status when your request comes in. Every crew that flies your aircraft is trained on the type and briefed on how you like to travel.
What it costs
- No management fee and no hangar fee. You pay the aircraft’s direct operating costs, including crew, insurance, maintenance, and fuel, at invoice.
- No markup on third-party maintenance or parts. When an outside vendor performs maintenance or supplies parts, you receive the vendor’s invoice and pay that amount.
- No markup on fuel. We buy fuel at our negotiated pricing and pass it through at cost.
- Your choice of maintenance provider. We have our own in-house maintenance capability, but you are not required to use it for every maintenance event. You may nominate another qualified maintenance provider or source your own parts. As the certificate holder, we remain responsible for airworthiness and must approve the provider.
Charter revenue with a guarantee
For qualifying aircraft, we commit to a set number of charter hours, written into your management agreement. If the aircraft flies fewer than the guaranteed hours in a contract year, we pay you the shortfall hours at the owner revenue rate set in your agreement.
Whether an aircraft qualifies depends on its type, age, condition, and maintenance status. We confirm this during our initial review, before you commit to anything.
Owners receive a share of charter revenue, and the share applies to the whole invoice. Beyond flight time, that can include cancellation, standby, and non-flight-day fees.
How the floating fleet works
In a traditional charter model, an aircraft may return to its home base after each trip, creating an empty repositioning leg. Our aircraft remain where the previous trip ended. The next charter can depart from that location, while we position a qualified crew to the aircraft. Fewer empty legs mean more of the aircraft’s flying can generate revenue.
We concentrate the fleet along the U.S. East Coast, so the next trip is often close.
Owner trips take priority. When you need the aircraft, we position it to you. Positioning cost and notice period are set per aircraft and confirmed before you sign.
Bringing your aircraft onto our certificate
- Review. We review the aircraft’s records, maintenance status, equipment, and operating history to determine what is required to qualify for charter service.
- Proposal. We provide the proposed operating budget, guaranteed charter hours, and management terms in writing.
- Conformity. We prepare the aircraft and its records for the FAA conformity process and its addition to our Part 135 certificate.
- Crew. We assign, hire, and train pilots for the aircraft based on its operating requirements.
- In service. Once the aircraft enters service, you receive owner scheduling access and monthly reports.
Buying first?
If you don’t own the aircraft yet, our aircraft acquisition team can help you choose and buy the right one, and run the operating numbers before you commit.
