Benefits of Professional Citation CJ2, CJ3 and CJ4 Management

Citation CJ2 in flight

  • Predictable, Lower Operating Cost: The CJ family is known for some of the lowest operating costs in the light-jet class – the advantage is in protecting that. Independent ownership means absorbing every fuel stop, engine-program charge, and unscheduled event at whatever the market charges that day. Under management, those variables move onto negotiated pricing and a planned budget – so your operating costs remain predictable from month to month.
  • Protected Residual Value: With the largest installed base in the light-jet class and strong, steady demand, the CJ family holds its value well – but resale still turns on the quality of each aircraft’s records and the status of its engine-program enrollment. Maintained to the manufacturer’s program with complete, continuously documented logbooks, your aircraft reaches the market with the clean paper trail buyers pay a premium for. That disciplined recordkeeping helps preserve the resale value these aircraft consistently command.
  • Maximum Availability, Minimal Downtime: The point of ownership is having the aircraft ready on your schedule. Proactive inspection planning, engine-program tracking, and disciplined systems management are handled ahead of the curve, keeping a maintenance item from becoming an AOG surprise. The benefit you feel is simple: the aircraft is available when you want it.
  • Reduced Ownership Risk & Liability: With safety oversight and Part 91 and Part 135 obligations held by an accountable, independently audited operator, that responsibility shifts off you. You keep the asset and its use; the operational and regulatory exposure sits with professionals whose standards are verified by recurring audits.

Citation CJ2, CJ3 and CJ4 Overview

Citation CJ4 InteriorThe Citation CJ family is the most successful line of light jets ever built, tracing its roots to the original CitationJet of 1993 and growing into the largest installed base of any light jet. The CJ2, CJ3, and CJ4 are three distinct models within that family – each progressively larger and more capable, and each its own aircraft rather than a variant of the others – united by a shared lineage, Williams FJ44 engines, and single-pilot certification that has made the series a favorite of owner-operators and charter fleets alike.

The Citation CJ2 is the compact, efficient member of the family. In its current CJ2+ form it is powered by Williams FJ44-3A-24 engines, seats around six passengers, and offers a range of roughly 1,600 nautical miles, all at some of the lowest operating costs in the class. The Citation CJ3 is the sweet spot of the family: a longer cabin, Williams FJ44-3A engines with a long 4,000-hour time between overhauls, and a range of about 2,000 nautical miles that reaches across nearly all of the United States. The current CJ3+ adds Garmin G3000 avionics, and the aircraft’s blend of range, economy, and cabin comfort has made it one of the most sought-after light jets on the market.

The Citation CJ4 is the flagship of the line. Introduced in 2010 and now offered as the CJ4 Gen2, it is the largest and fastest of the three, with a moderately swept wing derived from the larger Citation Sovereign, more powerful Williams FJ44-4A engines, a range of about 2,165 nautical miles, and seating for up to ten. Across all three, Textron’s global service and parts network is among the deepest in business aviation – and while the CJ2 is no longer in production, the CJ3 and CJ4 lines continue today. That combination of broad market demand, extensive factory support, and efficient operating economics is exactly what makes professional management so valuable.

For owners interested in generating revenue, Capital Jets offers comprehensive charter management services. As an ARGUS Platinum operator and an approved vendor for leading fractional programs, jet card providers, and charter brokerages, we are positioned to place your CJ2, CJ3, or CJ4 in front of a broad network of qualified travelers – and with one of the largest installed fleets in charter and fractional service, the CJ family sees strong, steady demand.

Through our established industry relationships and sales channels, we help maximize charter utilization and increase earning potential, so the aircraft works to offset the cost of owning it.

Why Aircraft Management Matters

Owning an aircraft should mean using it, not running an aviation business around it. Operating a Citation CJ2, CJ3, or CJ4 involves crews, engine programs, dispatch, compliance, and long-term planning – a full-time operation in its own right. Capital Jets takes that on entirely, so you keep the use and the asset while we handle everything required to fly it safely and efficiently.
